What’s new in Ingest

Ingest 0.9.7

Build a workspace around your shoot

  • New Workspace offers a guided Workspace Builder or direct section editing. Both share one draft, explicit Save and Cancel, and nine sections covering questions, photo groups, folders, filenames, review, metadata, and after-import actions. Start with a destination and original filenames, or use an event or headshot starter.
  • Preview representative files and destinations as you work. Create metadata templates and actions inside the draft, then review concise outcome cards before saving. Use Workspace applies the saved setup without starting an import.
  • Photo Groups name sets such as Cocktail Hour or Speeches without requiring separate folders. Use group names and numbers in filenames, add optional group keywords, and keep RAW/JPEG partners together. Saved shoots continue group numbering across cards; retries retain their allocated filenames.

Review the result before importing

  • Metadata previews show the actual field operation, existing value, and resulting value. Missing required answers block import with a link to fix them. Fields shown during import are separate from the selected template, and editing a shared template creates a copy.
  • Choose photos for each after-import action independently of the import scope. Import everything while opening only tagged copies in Lightroom, or add another action for untagged copies. Matching counts, empty-target explanations, and recorded outcomes make unfinished actions easier to retry.
  • Names, destinations, metadata changes, and action targets are fixed when import starts. Relevant edits require a fresh review. Completion cards open verified destinations in Ingest or Finder; failed required work prevents automatic card cleanup.

A clearer Mac workspace and Decks handoff

  • Contained sidebar sections, rounded settings groups, system typography, and coordinated surfaces improve separation. The top controls stay in two rows. Show photos in subfolders sits beside the source and is also available in View and the command palette.
  • Click disclosure headings or their empty space to expand them. Persistent checklists keep selected items together and support reordering. Folder labels navigate on one click; Command-click opens another tab. Settings search reveals the selected control. Photo Background offers six choices with independent workspace overrides.
  • Review gains clearer assessments and rejection decisions, with more predictable keyboard traversal and command-palette selection. Metadata and My Gear editors provide clearer field selection and error explanations.
• Send to Decks can send original files or prepared JPEG copies through iCloud, alongside the Mac and sharing options. Photos wait in Decks Incoming Photos until you choose a new or existing project. Saved transfer status supports resuming uploads and checking completion.

Workspace settings have been redesigned. Recreate custom workspaces as needed. Requires macOS 15 or later and Apple silicon. iCloud transfers require iCloud sign-in and a compatible Decks version.
