Review for choosing keepers, clearer import, and independent editors
Review a fixed set of photos with a filmstrip, large face close-ups in a resizable right column, detail inspection, tags, ratings, and color labels. Compare keeps a reference while you inspect candidates, and returning restores your selected face, zoom, and scroll.
Eye assessments now match measurements to the correct face and reassess unresolved faces from sharper previews when you inspect a photo. Face thumbnails show numbers and closed-eye warnings, with uncertainty and corrections in the selected face’s details.
Browse is the main workspace. Import… opens Import Settings with settings beside the photo scope and output preview. Organize… and Social Export… open independent windows from File, the photo context menu, or the command palette; drafts and mandatory execution review remain in place.
Shared charcoal editing surfaces, flatter sections, resizable columns, native window closing, and more stable folder navigation and settings updates.
Command-click selections survive subsequent Shift-click ranges. Command-D deselects. Single-click a folder to navigate; double-click to open it in another Browse tab. Command-W closes the current Browse tab before the window.
Use [ and ] to cycle faces during face inspection; otherwise they navigate photo groups. Quiet Quick Tips teach relevant shortcuts as you work. The shortcut overlay requires a Command tap, release, then a second press and hold; Command-K still opens the command palette.
Command Palette and Shortcuts settings include commands across all tools, contextual availability, custom bindings, conflict reporting, and learning controls. Review layout, folder-position restoration, and transfer defaults are configurable.
Ordinary Move and Rename work on filesystems such as exFAT that do not support exclusive atomic rename. The compatibility path rejects destinations detected before renaming but cannot guarantee atomic exclusion against simultaneous external creation. Reviewed Organize operations retain strict atomic exclusion.
Improve Fujifilm recipe saved-state reporting, Apple Photos search from its saved index, and cleanup of intentionally excluded JPEG companions when clearing a card after verified RAW-only imports.
Requires macOS 15 or later and Apple silicon.

0.9.4.6
Photo Suggestions shows its sets, and a way between groups
Photo Suggestions now shows its sets. Each burst or group of similar shots gets its own section, with the suggested photo marked among its alternatives and the reason in the header: suggested and why, too close to call, or already chosen. Photos with no similar shot are left out instead of filling the grid, and the panel says how many. Compare opens a set two photos at a time. ↑ and ↓ move between sets.
When photos are grouped by day, camera, lens, ISO or location, a bar above the grid names the group you’re in. Click it, or click any group heading, to see every group with its count and jump to one. [ and ] move to the previous and next group, in the grid and in Preview, and also step through scenes and Photo Suggestions’ sets. Days read as dates, such as Thu, Sep 24, 2026.
The grouping commands are now named Group by Day, Group by Camera and so on, and Clear Grouping.
Sort by visual appeal, and one job for Photo Suggestions
Sort by Visual appeal orders a folder by the on-device appeal estimate, most appealing first, with photos not yet analyzed at the end. Choosing it runs the analysis pass if it has not finished, and the order fills in as results arrive. It is an order to look through, not a rating: nothing is written to a file and no photo is tagged.
Photo Suggestions no longer offers Find highlights. That shortlist left out any photo with a face too small to judge for open eyes, so on a shoot of people it could choose only from frames with nobody in them or one large face, and it scattered its picks through a grid of every photo. Photo Suggestions keeps its one job: choosing between similar shots, with the evidence for each.

0.9.4.4
A clearer Ingest sidebar and one destination tree
The Ingest sidebar is a job sheet in three planes: the workspace title and the job’s own rows, then Destination, then Files. Every setting is a row on one label grid: inline controls, one-click menus for Include, Afterwards, Card and Archive, and values that open their editor in place.
The destination tree draws every route in one picture. A route that lands inside the main destination, such as videos in a video folder beside the photographs, appears inside that folder with its own sample file and count; only a different volume gets its own tree. Each route shows one sample with a photo or video glyph and the name it had on the card.
Changing a route’s Subfolders template inside a project now takes effect. The project holds a folder from an earlier import only while the template is unchanged, and says so under the field when it does.
Focus peaking uses stronger green marks with a dark outline sized to the preview; other pixels keep their color and brightness.
Broad “metadata” searches in the command palette show the main editing, template, copy and paste actions first, with Show all matching commands for the rest.
Metadata Assist collapses a selected GPS location to a summary with a separate View Map popover, and keeps field and code suggestions below the editor instead of over the text.
Metadata reads retry from fresh source and sidecar revisions. Continuing file activity shows an error with a Reload Metadata button that preserves the draft.
September 27, 2026
0.9.4.3
Saved places, smoother metadata entry, and reliable import and export
Save named GPS locations and search them from Metadata Assist and the shared location pickers, including Apple Photos. Saved places work offline; address search, decimal coordinates, and Apple Maps coordinate links remain available.
Enter GPS locations beside the Metadata Assist writing area. Selecting a pin returns focus to writing. Previous and Next retain separate photo drafts; Apply keeps Assist open, and Apply & Next advances only after success. Multiple selections can be edited together or individually.
New sources default to Ingest Tagged and No project. Ingest All, Ingest Tagged, and Ingest Selected have explicit membership independent of display filters. Leaving a project restores non-project settings.
Camera-card roots open their camera folders automatically. Imports finish after metadata, cleanup, and card handling; failures keep cards mounted. View Details opens retained-file, destination, and ejection results from either tab.
Improve keyword editing and verification, including blank values and combined additions/removals. Preserve unrelated metadata and write Lightroom-compatible keywords and GPS to matching RAW sidecars.
Social Export defaults to the shared originals folder and {base}_social names, with collision protection. Fix concurrent metadata verification, detect changed originals and sidecars, keep successful frames, and retry remaining frames independently.
Strengthen source-copy and cleanup checks, metadata cancellation, preview retention, and background-work cancellation. Reuse directory ownership indexes and reduce blocking preview work during browsing.

0.9.4.2
Clear import results and steady Focus Mode windows
RAW-only and JPEG-only imports report intentionally retained pairs as information instead of errors. Both originals remain together until every required copy is verified.
Real copy, verification, metadata, receipt-saving, and card-cleanup failures remain visible. A failed destination cannot be overridden by a successful copy elsewhere.
The single-destination receipt no longer offers a retry for intentionally excluded JPEGs or companions.
Entering and leaving Focus Mode preserves the window size and position, including repeated F presses. The title bar no longer leaves an exposed strip behind the window.
September 25, 2026
0.9.4.1
Steady Focus Mode and Settings layouts
Focus Mode updates the toolbar and panels together. Moving between photos keeps the mode active, and repeated F presses restore the normal layout reliably.
JPEG and video destination fields no longer overlap. Shared Settings rows reserve enough room for their controls.
Workspace controls fit narrow Settings windows, with a compact section picker and stacked rows when needed.
Selected Settings categories remain readable in light appearance.
Basic’s After copy setting correctly shows Leave the card alone, including older saved values.

0.9.4
Camera details for film scans and clearer Settings
Camera & Lens… in Metadata Assist lets you search an equipment-name catalog, save custom gear, and fill aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and focal length.
Review before applying. Fill missing values or explicitly replace scanner metadata. JPEG/TIFF edits and RAW sidecars support verification and Undo; ingest applies details to the copies.
Camera-model tokens now receive camera metadata in folder names and previews. Blank optional subfolder rows no longer show an error.
Settings has a lighter charcoal background and a visible window edge.
Saved gear is local to this Mac; Ingest Field gear sync is not included.
Each photo is resized once with a high-quality filter. Sharpen for Screen (Off, Low, Standard, High) restores detail lost in the reduction, on the photos only, never on borders, text, or backgrounds.
Exports embed an sRGB color profile. Photos are no longer enlarged by default: a frame whose photos lack the pixels exports smaller. Allow Enlarging restores the full width.
Press Z in Social Export to see the exported JPEG at 100%, with its size, quality, and sharpening. The export sheet estimates each file’s size.
Full-bleed starters for every Instagram shape: 3:4, 4:5, Square, Story, and Landscape 1.91:1, all 1440 wide. Your saved presets are unchanged.
Fill crops start centered on the subject. Thirds lines appear while you drag, and arrow keys nudge the selected photo by one exported pixel (⇧ for ten).
An Instagram grid preview guide, the Stories guide updated to Meta’s March 2026 safe zone, and export notes when a carousel would crop slides or exceed 20.
Workspace settings group related import options and make setup easier to scan.
The five-screen walkthrough follows Insert, Review, Metadata, Copy, and Set up. Metadata Assist now has a dedicated screen covering shoot details, review, and Use for Import.
Refreshed screenshots and instructions match selection-based imports, Save Location, After Import, and current workspace settings.
Narrow walkthrough windows show instructions first and keep navigation available.
Show All, Tagged, Untagged, or Selected directly above your photos. Ratings and color filters stay visible; More Filters includes Before, After, and Between capture dates.
A checkmark means tagged. Press T with multiple photos selected to tag them together. Use Ingest From Selection to review only your selection, or Ingest for the complete source. Separate import checkboxes and the rejection workflow have been removed.
The workspace supplies import defaults. Customize them when needed and review the final folder tree and filename example before copying. Real-estate projects carry their address into shoot details.
Edit Metadata opens Metadata Assist. Edit Individual Fields opens a detailed draft editor inside it; Use Changes returns edits for review before Apply. Keyboard suggestions scroll with the highlighted choice.
Arrow keys pan zoomed photos; linked comparison panes follow the existing zoom lock. Edge Overlay is now named Focus Peaking (Option–E); green edge highlights preserve the original photo’s brightness and color. Unhighlighted areas may still be in focus.
Black photo area and grid with subtly lighter thumbnail tiles and a distinct gray bottom filmstrip, native typography, and more space above thumbnails. Focus Mode lets content extend into the hidden toolbar area.

0.9.0
Metadata Assist and a workspace that remembers
Metadata Assist combines labeled entry, editable review, starter buttons, native typography, and a built-in guide. Apply details to selected photos or stage them for verified import copies.
Tab fills previously used values. Recent values recalls fields and GPS locations; Use Last Details restores the previous set for review. Caption codes and metadata copy/paste support repeated work.
Stage client, event, location, and shoot date for naming and folders. Projects retain shared details across cards; selected photo edits take precedence.
Choose workspaces from the toolbar, select a startup workspace, and press F for Focus Mode. Shift-F fits the photo; H toggles an Apple Photos favorite.
Quick Tips and optional daily tips help you discover commands. The screenshot walkthrough remains available from Help and Command-K.
Progressive source discovery displays photos before the whole listing completes. Preview, histogram, grid, and Photos improvements reduce repeated work. Filename planning reuses unchanged templates.
A five-step walkthrough uses real app screenshots to explain inserting a card, tagging keepers, checking focus, copying with an optional backup, and handing off to Lightroom Classic. It appears once for new users; reopen it from Help or type “walkthrough” in ⌘K.
Settings links work directly from the walkthrough, shortcuts reflect your keymap, and the Command Palette is one action away on every step. Advanced workspace setup comes last. An optional practice guide offers hands-on lessons without changing your photos.
Enable Apple Photos for individual workspaces in addition to the global switch. Keep it available for Personal and hidden for Real Estate, for example.
Fixes excessive work when opening and displaying large Apple Photos collections. Source records and grid groups are reused, grouping runs off the main thread, and obsolete work is canceled. Opening Photos no longer starts whole-library image analysis; Analyze is an explicit action.
Help commands remain available during loading and ordinary field editing. Native menus follow the chosen app appearance, and Edge and Detail overlays are available during Ingest review.
Includes the quiet-depth UI refinements, folder finder, metadata facets, and per-workspace sidebar controls described in 0.8.4 below.
Fixes a startup stall when restoring expanded folders on a slow drive or file provider. Directory watches now open in the background, and collapsing a folder does not wait for its provider to respond. Photo files and saved folder expansion choices are unchanged.
The 0.8.4 update was withdrawn after installed-upgrade verification exposed this issue. Version 0.8.5 is the recommended update.

0.8.4
Quiet depth, clearer browsing
Subtle dark sidebar surfaces, distinct selection and hover states, compact scene headings, clearer stack badges, and a quieter inspector keep photographs prominent.
Find Folder opens in the Command Palette through ⌘K, ⇧⌘F, or the sidebar magnifier. Results include parent paths and leave the folder tree intact. The Search This Mac photo-search dialog is removed; ⌘F still filters the current collection.
Show or hide the left, right, or both sidebars through toolbar buttons, the View menu, and palette commands. Each workspace remembers visibility; hidden panes retain their widths and contents.
Sort and Group have separate controls. Browse by metadata in a facet strip: click one value or Shift-click several. Counts respect other active filters without reorganizing the grid.
Cards and drives share a section. Recent folders show five entries plus the current folder, with an option to reveal more. Expanded branches refresh when directories change.
Organize opens directly into its workspace. Review & Organize still precedes file changes. Ingest and Social Export gain compact source, project, and action layouts.
Scene navigation, sidebar focus recovery, and uninterrupted filter typing through empty results are more dependable.
Burst stacks keep capture sequences intact using recorded burst identifiers, supported Sony sequence metadata, or conservative timing inference. Framing changes no longer split recorded bursts, and the 30-frame limit is gone.
Optional scenes organize related photos within the same shooting day, including later revisits. Scenes can contain intact bursts and exposure stacks. Uncertain matches stay separate.
Group by Burst defaults on; Group by Scene defaults off. Set them independently in Sort or save them with a workspace. Exposure stacking remains separate.
Double-click a burst for its whole-frame Survey. Previous/Next Burst appears while inspecting it. Review Scene scopes the existing browser with a removable filter. The separate Review Similar Photos screen is retired; Compare keeps Select/Candidate navigation.
Create, combine, move, and name scenes with a photo-count preview, persistent local corrections, and Undo. These actions do not merge images, rename files, or change decisions.
Scene matching is deliberately conservative. Use Combine Scenes when related compositions remain separate. Read the guide.

0.8.2
Culling, inspection, and ingest
Review photos with local rejection, reviewed status, and protection. Tagging clears rejection; rejecting clears the tag. Stars and color labels remain independent. Protected photos explain why editing is unavailable, and mixed selections show which photos can be edited.
Compare / C opens Select and Candidate side by side. Keep Select fixed while browsing candidates, promote a candidate with Up, or swap with Down. Decisions apply to the active pane. Double-clicking a stack still opens its whole-stack grid, also available through Survey / N. Hold B for a temporary reference view.
Hold Z over a grid thumbnail for a loupe without changing selection. In Preview, Z toggles fit and 100% once per press. Inspection and comparison work with filesystem sources and Apple Photos, including cloud download feedback.
Review Similar Photos adds group navigation and progress when needed. Keep This Frame is additive, so a group can have several keepers. Suggest Keepers shows thumbnails, alternatives, and reasons before an explicit Tag Suggested Photos action; it never rejects alternatives or assigns stars.
Crop & Straighten is directly searchable in the Command Palette and opens inside Preview. Keyword editors wait for successful writes before closing, preserve drafts on failure, and explain protection. Metadata editing adds Apply & Previous.
Sharpness analysis treats dark, low-contrast, and exposure-bracket images more cautiously. Subject close-ups and persistent analysis corrections help with inspection; uncertain analysis is explained instead of presented as a good result.
Saved views gain review and metadata filters. Source Summary counts can become filter chips. Add metadata list view, temporary grouping, filename pick lists, portable decisions, Browse source tabs, custom ordering, and controller mappings through Settings.
Preserve supported editor sidecars and uniquely matched filesystem Live Photo companions through file operations. Ambiguous associations are explained before the affected operation proceeds.
Ingest gains per-photo inclusion checkboxes, per-project numbering, and browsing of verified destination copies while copying continues. Rejected photos are excluded by default, with Include Rejected available. Cleanup respects excluded and protected originals; decisions transfer to verified copies.
Keep the default browsing layout quiet: review controls appear in their relevant views, preferences live in Settings, and a single source tab stays hidden. Fix stack activation so it continues to show all frames rather than entering the two-photo comparison.
macOS 15 or later, Apple silicon. Native Apple Photos captions, keywords, and star ratings require macOS 27. Get started.
September 23, 2026
0.8.1
Assists for culling, never decisions
After the scan, at low priority, every photo gets a feature print, its faces, and a sharpness score, kept in a cache and never written to the files. Consecutive frames that look alike become a ≈N stack, the way bracket sets become ×N.
Frames with faces get a second look for closed eyes and Apple’s face quality. The ⌥F close-ups zoom to a face on a click, and a run of people leads with the frame where nobody blinked.
Soft marks frames noticeably less sharp than their stack or their neighbors, judged on the subject rather than the background. ⇧P says Not Soft, and ⌘Z takes it back. Tilted and Utility are filters too.
Nothing is ever tagged or rated for you. Settings → Browsing turns the pass off, and it pauses by itself while the Mac is hot or in Low Power Mode.
Workspaces
Real Estate, Events, or Family each hold their own Ingest, Organize, Browse, and Social Export settings on one page. A workspace can hide a tab and choose the one it opens in; Organize matches Ingest until you switch it off.
Video and the JPEG half of a pair can go to their own folders with their own names and metadata, and RAW and JPEG can land in different folders.
Compare, histogram, sidebar
Compare shows every frame of a stack side by side, twelve to a page. The arrows stop at the edges, panes select like photos, and T tags only the frame shown. Zoomed in, drag the picture to move around it and the other panes follow.
The histogram is drawn the way Lightroom draws it and counted from the preview already on screen, so it follows each frame at once; corner marks light at 0.1 % clipping. Compare RAW & JPEG shows Apple’s neutral RAW rendering beside the camera JPEG, and Settings → Sidebar Information can switch RAW files to the sensor histogram.
The sources list is one list: Cards, Favorites, Recent, Saved Views, Folders, and Apple Photos, each collapsing in place. Camera Details reads top-down: the camera as its maker names it, the lens, an exposure strip, then date and file.
A 16 GB Mac is a first-class Mac: caches, prefetch, and the analysis pass scale to memory and cores, and memory pressure trims caches instead of emptying them.
Choose Library, Favorites, Unfiled, Unreviewed, or any album in the sources list and the photographs swap in place. The sidebar width, the inspector, and the tab you were on stay where they were.
One set of commands covers files and Photos. A command that cannot apply says why rather than disappearing, and a shortcut you remapped applies in both places.
Turn Apple Photos integration off in Settings → General and the source is simply absent.
A photo bar you can read
Sort shows what the order is and turns it around with the button beside it. Sort by capture time, filename, rating, color label, date modified, or file size; Apple Photos adds album order and Organize adds group order.
Filter is a panel rather than a menu: what is shown, a minimum rating, any combination of color labels, and a kind such as brackets or video.
Everything you have chosen appears as chips under the bar, each with a cross, beside a count of how many photographs are showing and a Clear.
The search field is always visible, and a folder now reopens in the order you left it in.
Keywords are one pool
Settings → Keywords lists every tag with how many photographs carry it in Photos and in which folders, and sorts by any column.
Rename, merge, change case, unify spellings, or delete a tag everywhere at once, after a preview that says exactly what will change.
Fixes a merge into one of a tag's own spellings that removed the tag from the photographs in Apple Photos instead of keeping it.
New typography
Headings, photo names, and folder names are set in IBM Plex Sans. Filenames, exposure readouts, counts, and keyboard hints are set in iA Writer Mono, which is drawn from the same family.
Controls, captions, and hints stay in the macOS system font, so they match the menus and alerts the system draws.
macOS 15 or later, Apple silicon. Native Photos captions, keywords, and star ratings require macOS 27. Read the Photos guide.

Clearer guidance for older iCloud photos
Open the info button beside a Photos album title to learn why an iCloud-only image may take longer to show a larger preview.
Find the same explanation in Settings → General → Apple Photos, including how to keep originals on your Mac for offline viewing.
Photos stored locally work without internet. When Photos must download an image from iCloud, the wait depends on the connection and Apple Photos, not Ingest. Read the Photos guide.
September 22, 2026
0.7.7
Older Photos albums feel ready sooner
Prepare previews for the visible photos in a selected album, then a small nearby window, so likely next clicks can show an image sooner.
Fetch visible and nearby iCloud photos in the background while giving the clicked photo priority.
Show a correct cached thumbnail or small local image while a larger preview loads, and cancel work as you switch albums or scroll away.
Album warmup stays bounded within the Photos image cache. iCloud transfer time still depends on Photos and the network. Browsing does not change your originals. Read the Photos guide.

0.7.6
Keep up with your Apple Photos library
Select on mouse-down in the native Photos grid and filmstrip, with familiar keyboard navigation and Grid, Preview, and Split views.
Reuse recently viewed previews and show available image detail while higher-quality or iCloud images load.
Load inspector details independently, preload nearby thumbnails, and avoid repeating whole-library work for routine Photos changes.
Improve large-library browsing, memory management, and Photos menu availability.
Apple Photos remains on by default, with a switch in Settings → General. The Fujifilm recipe improvements from 0.7.4 and 0.7.5 are included.
The first full-library filename/keyword search can still take time while metadata is read. Read the Photos guide.
September 21, 2026
0.7.5
Recipe controls within reach
Keep Copy, Export, Edit, the simulation keyword action, and queued-change controls above the recipe details.
Keep Save, Cancel, and Use Camera Settings above the editor.
Choose Don’t show again in the after-ingest dialog to skip future card recipe confirmations. The choice is remembered only after a change is successfully queued; Cancel leaves it unchanged.
Turn confirmations back on in Settings → Sidebar Information → Fujifilm Recipe.
Read recipe details without an oversized editor. Choose Edit when you want to change the notes.
Cancel restores saved notes or the original camera settings. Use Camera Settings restores the detected recipe while editing.
Keyword buttons name the simulation they add, such as Add “Provia” to Keywords, and show a checkmark when it is present.
On a card, confirm recipe saves and simulation keywords in a short after-ingest dialog. Changes are queued on your Mac, with Undo available before ingest.
Apply queued changes only to verified JPEG copies, including the backup destination, after the selected ingest preset. Card originals and RAW companions remain unchanged.
See the detected film simulation below Location in Photo Info for Fujifilm JPEGs. Expand Fujifilm Recipe to see the available camera settings.
Edit or replace the recipe text with your own notes, then choose Save. Existing notes are preserved, and reading a recipe never changes the file.
Copy the current recipe or export it as a text or Markdown file, including unsaved edits.
Add the detected simulation name as a keyword while preserving existing keywords. With several photos selected, each qualifying JPEG gets its own simulation.
Use JPEG companions in RAW + JPEG pairs without changing the RAW file.
Read the Fujifilm recipe guide. Text and Markdown exports are for sharing and reference; camera profile transfer is not included.

The familiar browser layout in Apple Photos
Use the same Grid, Preview, and Split controls as files and folders, with a filmstrip in Preview and a resizable grid and preview in Split.
Show or hide Sources and the right-hand inspector from the toolbar or the existing keyboard shortcuts.
Use Photo Info for tags, stars, colors, favorites, a rendered-image histogram, camera details, caption, keywords, and location. Sidebar information settings apply to Photos too.
Keep the chosen view when changing albums. Space returns from Preview to the preceding Grid or Split layout.
Use the shared photo sizing, sort, filter, search, and information controls. Photos metadata changes stay connected to Photos.
Fix a missing Photos entitlement in the signed release that prevented Connect from displaying the macOS permission prompt.
Open Photos Privacy Settings when access has already been denied, show connection progress, and check access again when you return to Ingest.
Add a release check that verifies Photos permission configuration in the signed app before publication.
If Connect did nothing in 0.7.0, update to 0.7.1 and open Apple Photos again. Allow Photos access when prompted. If you previously denied access, choose Open Photos Privacy Settings and enable Ingest.
September 21, 2026
0.7.0
Apple Photos, integrated and optional
Browse the System Photo Library, favorites, ordinary albums, and Unfiled and Unreviewed inboxes. Search albums, preview photos, and review selections with the keyboard.
Create and organize albums and folders, file photos into several albums, adjust order, and preview additive grouping recipes before applying them.
Edit native favorites, dates, and locations. Native captions, keywords, and ratings are available on macOS 27; earlier systems retain local ratings. Tags, colors, and review marks stay local.
Send JPEGs or JPEG companions from file workflows through a reviewed import sheet, with explicit RAW options and content receipts that reuse confirmed imports. Interrupted submissions require reconciliation or an intentional retry.
Bring Photos selections into Social Export using retained copies of the current rendered images, and send completed Social JPEGs back to Photos.
Keep Apple Photos integration on by default, or turn it off in Settings → General to hide its source, commands, and actions. Permission is requested when connecting or sending.
Keep album removal separate from confirmed library deletion. Photos changes follow your iCloud settings.
This remains a working beta. Shared Album publishing, Smart Album rule editing, and continuous rule synchronization are not included. Read the Photos guide and updated privacy details.

0.6.0
RAW histogram and Photo Info
Inspect supported RAW sensor data with highlight headroom in stops and channel clipping information. Unreadable RAW files fall back to a labeled JPEG histogram.
Switch between RAW and JPEG histograms, choose RGB or individual channels, select a linear or stops scale for RAW data, and mark clipped regions on the image.
Render a RAW preview for one photo on demand, or compare its RAW and JPEG previews side by side with linked zoom and pan.
Comparison zoom aligns immediately on double-click and preview labels track completed rendering.
Photo context menus offer Show in Finder, Copy File Path, and Copy Filename.
The full metadata editor includes structured IPTC fields, guided templates, and reversible crops. Specialized fields stay out of the default sidebar.
Photo Info now keeps Caption, Keywords, and Location close at hand. Choose and reorder sidebar information in Settings. Edit and approve on-device Apple Intelligence caption and keyword suggestions on supported macOS 27 systems, and enter location by address, coordinates, or city/state.
September 21, 2026
0.5.0
A faster way to browse folders, a simpler tagging workflow, and more control over Social Export.
Browse and review
Browse your Mac's folder tree inside Ingest, search folders, and open a folder with a single selection. Leaf folders no longer show misleading disclosure arrows.
Show photos in subfolders when you need them. The visible toggle defaults off, and selecting a photo identifies its containing folder in the tree.
Open a photo from Finder with Ingest to jump to its folder and select it.
Zoom the grid all the way to one photo. Improved pinch sizing keeps cached previews visible; arrow navigation stays with photos by default.
Restore compact Grid, Preview, and Split icons. Press I or use the info button to cycle basic, full, or hidden photo information in all three views.
Inspect RGB or luminance histograms. Histogram, Camera Details, Keywords, Caption, and Location open expanded and remember later disclosure choices.
Metadata shortcuts reveal, scroll to, and focus their fields. Location updates preserve the current view, selection, zoom, and cached photos instead of reopening the folder.
Clear an active filter from the folder header. Command descriptions explain overlays and navigation; AF Point Overlay reports when focus-point information is unavailable.
Tagging and deletion
Use Tag/Untag as a simple flag: T toggles and U untags. Stars, colors, and keywords stay independent. Reject and its shortcuts, filters, badges, and cleanup action have been removed; X is unassigned.
All includes every photo in the current scope; Untagged includes every photo without a tag. Unmarked describes photos without tags, stars, or colors.
Delete selected photos with the Delete key or a context menu. Confirmation is on by default, with a preference available both in Settings and in the confirmation dialog.
Organize
Group by Tagged/Untagged, star rating, color label, and the existing date, camera, lens, file type, and keyword choices. Grouping is available in the initial setup and inspector.
A clearer inspector follows Grouping, Destination, Filenames, and Destination Preview. Source-folder subfolders are the default; alternate destinations show their folder chooser explicitly.
Preview full paths when useful and see three example filenames while renaming. Advanced date options stay out of the main flow.
Review & Organize is a prominent fixed action, with Copy, Move, or Rename identified before execution. Background planning keeps previews stable while typing.
Social Export
Choose Fit or Fill for a photo, drag its position, and zoom within its cell. Grid cells support common and custom aspect ratios independently of the canvas, with remaining space kept as background.
Add editable text layers to individual frames with fonts, alignment, color, and optional backgrounds. Copy a text design to all frames, optionally including its wording.
Snap photos and text to centers and edges. An optional approximate Stories safe-area guide appears only on 9:16 still-image canvases and is never included in exported files.
A quieter native interface
A wider resizable sidebar keeps folder names readable. Favorites, Recent, and Saved Views collapse independently and remember their state.
Compact photo controls combine view, sizing, sort, and filters; secondary controls move into an overflow menu at narrow widths.
Archivo headings retain Ingest's character, with more readable system-font controls and restrained orange accents. Browse, Organize, and Social Export have distinct active colors, and a labeled Ingest… button opens the import flow.
Removed the oversized orange pane-focus frame while retaining focus feedback on individual controls.
Existing IPTC capabilities are unchanged in this release. Requires macOS 15 or later and Apple silicon.
September 21, 2026
0.4.1
Immediate previews and clearer ways to organize and export.
Social Export updates previews while you move sliders or adjust crops. Each gesture is one undo step, and cached previews appear before higher-resolution refinement.
Changing Single, Pair, Row, Stack, or Grid automatically rearranges photos. Crops and photo order stay intact; there is no separate Arrange Photos button.
Labeled Browse, Organize, and Social Export controls stay visible. Go to Social Export resumes a project; Import into Social Export and ⇧⌘E create a new project from selected photos.
The Preview filmstrip visibly supports Command-click and Shift selection, including Shift-arrow ranges.
A prominent Export button and ⌘E open an export sheet with folder, size, quality, and final filename previews. Custom naming tokens stay in an optional disclosure.
Archive, Keep, Delete, and bulk cleanup make projects easier to manage. Projects archive after seven inactive days and move to macOS Trash after thirty; Keep protects them. Older projects get a fresh grace period.
Organize starts with a setup chooser for Copy, Move, Rename, and grouping. No Grouping is the default. Deliberate saved work resumes automatically with a Start Over option; merely opening a folder does not count as saved work.
Original photos remain unchanged by Social Export and project cleanup. The updated guide includes new native Retina screenshots of both workspaces.
September 21, 2026
0.4.0
Social Export and Organize workspaces.
Open Social Export with ⇧⌘E to compose selected still photos as Single, Pair, Row, Stack, or Grid frames. Adjust Fit/Fill crops, ratios, margins, spacing, borders, and automatic or chosen backgrounds.
Save source-linked projects and reusable presets. Reopening a project preserves its photo order, crops, and appearance. Presets and their background images travel with settings export/import.
Review filenames and dimensions before exporting sRGB JPEG or opaque PNG images. Width 1080 with a 4:5 ratio produces 1080 × 1350 files. GPS is excluded by default; collages keep shared credits only.
Existing export files are preserved. Cancel keeps completed files, and retry reviews only unfinished frames using refreshed source links.
Organize groups existing folders by date, camera, lens, file type, or keywords. Review Copy, Move, and Rename operations, save recipes, and restore drafts. Memory cards must be ingested before organization.
Simplifies job dialogs and Settings navigation, improves Light and Dark appearance, and keeps workspace keyboard focus and undo histories separate.
Social Export leaves original photos unchanged. This release does not include carousel splitting, video export, freeform layouts, watermarks, or transparent output.

0.3.1
Filmstrip thumbnails refresh as camera previews become available.
Fixes placeholders that could remain in the filmstrip after opening a folder. Thumbnails now retry when the photo’s preview revision changes, while canceled requests cannot replace newer content. Includes all camera support and import reliability improvements from 0.3.0.

0.3.0
More cameras, with reliable previews and safer imports.
Adds camera support for Canon, Nikon, Hasselblad, Panasonic / Lumix, OM System / Olympus, Ricoh / Pentax, and Leica alongside the existing Sony and Fujifilm readers. JPEG and HEIC / HEIF / HIF companions travel with their RAW files.
Prefers camera previews and paired images. Files that need RAW rendering use a bundled fallback, isolated from normal browsing. No separate decoder installation is needed.
Proprietary RAW metadata goes into XMP companions. External edits refresh in an open folder while pending local ratings are preserved; rating-only edits keep cached previews.
Improves cancellation, eject coordination, and recovery after an interrupted import. Verified copies are retained, receipt-save errors keep originals, and retries do not automatically delete source files.
Preserves the Sony / Fuji preview paths and streaming ingest. Mixed-format samples, large-folder metadata, disposable interruption checks, and repeated preview benchmarks are covered by validation.
Camera support depends on model and recording mode. The tested Nikon Z8 compression mode cannot be rendered by bundled LibRaw; its embedded preview works, and native rendering works on the tested macOS 27 system. Runtime on macOS 15, physically cold-card behavior, and instrumented display-frame timing remain unverified. See supported formats and limitations.

0.2.1
The same Studio design, with more reliable Mac controls.
Select All works in the Command Palette, Settings, and sheets. Undo and redo stay in the field you are editing, even when its history is empty.
The palette keeps its search field still as results change. The footer shows the highlighted command and an Actions button for Pin/Unpin, Copy Link, and Configure Shortcut.
Inside the palette, ⌘K opens Actions. Escape closes Actions first, then the palette. Configure Shortcut takes you directly to the command in Settings.
Shortcut recorders support keyboard focus, Return or Space to start, and Escape to cancel, with named accessibility controls. Standard Mac editing keys stay protected.
Filename previews stay readable in Light appearance. Hints, hover states, focus rings, and floating-panel shadows adapt to appearance and accessibility display settings.
Accent controls update immediately when you choose a color. Archivo, the four accents, the black photo stage, and the existing layout are preserved.
0.2.0
A new look, and a receipt that tells you when the card can leave.
Ingest is set in Archivo, with one type scale across every screen. Filenames, paths, counts, and byte readouts stay in monospace, so the machine keeps speaking in one voice and people in another.
The inspector is sections rather than a stack of labels. The filename sits above a four-line block of what the camera recorded, and marks, stars, keywords, caption, and location each get their own space.
⌘K groups results under headings. A command that cannot run keeps its place and prints the reason beneath it, so the list never shortens under the arrow keys.
Ingesting shows both of its stages at once. One band is what has come off the card; the solid band behind it is what has been read back, verified, and written under its final name. The card is safe to remove when the bar is one color.
Each destination reports its own count, and a green tick appears only once that destination holds every file.
A run ends with a receipt: how many items, how fast, the first and last filename written, and what happened to the card.
When a run does not finish cleanly, the receipt says how many files exist only on the card and offers to ingest those. Retrying is always a choice, never automatic — a bad read is the clearest evidence a card is failing, and that is worth knowing rather than quietly working around.
Eject when done no longer fires if files were left behind. Ejecting is never blocked; the button is right there on the receipt.
Every commit sheet names its action and its count: Ingest 86 items rather than Ingest.
Memory cards are still never written to. Verification, the journal, and undo are unchanged — this release changes how the app looks and what it tells you, not what it does to your files.
0.1.0
The first release.
Browse a card or folder at full speed. Sony ARW and Fujifilm RAF are read through the JPEG the camera embedded, so photographs appear immediately and arrow keys never wait. JPEG, HEIC, and video work too.
Cull from the keyboard: tag, reject, five star ratings, and the Lightroom color labels, all undoable. Compare two frames or survey four with the zoom locked across the panes.
Exposure brackets of three, five, seven, and nine frames are found and shown as one cell. RAW and JPEG pairs become one photograph, and both settings can be changed per folder.
Saved views in the sidebar with live counts, so a cull has a visible end. Workspaces carry a set of defaults for a kind of shoot and can switch themselves by camera model.
Ingest copies to one folder or two, reads each copy back and compares it to the source before publishing it, and never overwrites anything. Files leave a card only after their copies verified.
Name templates with the brace tokens and a sequence number that never repeats, with a preview of the real filenames before anything is written.
Keywords, captions, titles, ratings, color labels, and GPS written into the files in the fields Lightroom and Apple Photos read, verified by reading them back. Quick entry sets all of it from one line.
Actions that run after a copy, an ingest:// URL scheme, and a settings file that carries your whole setup to another Mac.
Every command is in ⌘K, and every key can be changed in Settings.
Memory cards are never written to. That rule holds however a card was opened, and it is not a preference.
