The Filter panel offers All, Tagged, and Untagged, along with ratings, colors, Unmarked, and other filters. Unmarked means no tag, stars, or color. Your saved views remain in a collapsible sidebar section. Clicking the active filter beside the folder name clears it.
The counts update as you mark, which turns culling into something you can see the end of. ⌥Tab steps through the splits.
Set up a filter you like and press ⇧⌘S to save it as your own split. Settings → Browsing → Filters lets you edit one, give it an icon, or hide the built-in ones you never use.
Filters behave: they survive going in and out of the preview, they wrap where you expect, and marking the last photograph out of a view returns you to everything rather than leaving you in an empty room.
